Diocese of Sydney: 33rd Anniversary of H.H Mar Dinkha IV Ceremonial Dinner

On the evening of Sunday 18th of October 2009, the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East Diocese of Sydney held a ceremonial dinner where 650 of the church faithful gathered at Edessa Reception in celebrating the 33rd Anniversary of His Holiness Mar Dinkha IV as the Catholicos Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East.

The night was blessed with the presence of His Beatitude Mar Meelis Zaia Diocesan Metropolitan along with parish priests, deacons and the church faithful of the diocese. Speeches, poems and cultural Assyrian dances were presented by various representatives of the church including; students from The Assyrian Schools (Mar Narsai High School and St Hurmizd’s Primary School), The Youth Association and a number of parishioners.

The night concluded with the momentous speech of His Beatitude Mar Meelis’ enriching words, reinforcing peace and love between all churches and their faithful and making sure to always be in prayer and fasting and to be strong in the church for the glory and rising of the church and the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. His Beatitude also spoke of the work that ACERO has been doing that continuously aids our beloved brothers and sisters in Christ in the countries of Iraq, Iran, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon, which delighted the faithful and gave them heart to know that the church has and always will give a helping hand through the help and donations of the sons and daughters of the church in the more established countries such as Australia and America.

We pray that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will hold His Holiness’ hand and direct him in the true path as he always has for the better of the church and the glory of our Lord.
